Frequently asked question

Q: What can I call a “Created” stone?

A: Federal Trade Commission has  a clear definition of what can and what can not be called “Created” gem. The FTC says: (created stone must have) “...essentially the same optical, physical, and chemical properties as the stone named.” Please follow the link to read in more detail: FTC Guide

Q: Does Tairus produce all of its gems or buys some to re-sell?

A: Tairus produces all of its gems by Hydrothermal process, except for Alexandrite that is grown by Floating Zone as well as Pulled methods.

Q: How can I buy Tairus’ gems?

A: Please email us with your details: name, address or general residence area and/or Company’s name and address, so we can refer you to our nearest distributor or retailer. Please go to the Feedback page to send us an email: Feedback & E-mail

(please note: we do not sell directly to the public)

Q: What is the difference between Tairus’ Created Gem and a Natural Gem?

A: Our gems are grown by men while “natural” are found by men; the price is a big difference as well (our stones are less expensive) and that is all.

Q: How can I tell the difference between Tairus’ Gem and a Natural stone?

A: Only a trained Gemologist, after a thorough examination, using advanced gemological equipment, can tell the difference, as our stones have same gemological and chemical properties as their natural counterparts. You can e-mail us for a list of approved and recommended  gemologists in your area, qualified , in our opinion, to certify our Gems.
